Salita Rumblings

Mark Vester of BoxingScene.com reports that a possible bout between junior welterweight Dmitriy Salita and former champion Carlos Hernandez (43-8-1, 24 KOs) won't happen. Greg Leon, Hernandez's advisor, explained, "In my last discussion with Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Eric Gomez that took place over two weeks ago, I was informed that our potential April 3 fight against Dmitriy Salita at 143 pounds was a no go."

Salita, who is 30-1-1 with 16 KOs, lost his last fight, a contest against Amir Khan for the WBA light welterweight championship, on December 5, 2009. In an interview with Elie Seckbach of Boxing FanHouse, former world champion Zab Judah recently had some encouraging words for Salita about the loss. "To Dmitriy, don't worry about it man, shake it off. Remember, it's not about if you lose or not; it's about how you come back, show your heart of a champion."
